What The Hell Is This?

I can't remember if I've ever drank Diet Royal Crown Cola out of the fountain, much less out of a can or bottle. One of the concession people told me that the owner of the Aces owns stock in RC, and that's why it is served at the ballpark. One of the worst diet colas I've ever had. It left a chemical taste in your mouth, not a good finish at all. Not like my favorite Diet Mountain Dew. And, they charged $6.50 for the big cup, but you could refill it all night for free. I probably should have had Diet Dr Pepper instead.
So tell me, faithful readers. When is the last time YOU saw Diet RC in the fountain instead of Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi?

Marie And I At The Ballgame

Only 3500 people for the day game.

7th Inning Stretch

For the singing of what should be our National Anthem, Take Me Out To The Ballgame, this big baseball with a face comes up over the hitting background in center field to lead the song.

A Look At The Ballpark

The park has a 40 foot wall from the left field fair pole to dead center field. The rest of the outfield fence is 8 feet high. I saw a number of hits bounce off the high wall that would have been home runs if hit to the other side of the wall. The elevation of Reno allows the ball to really fly when well struck. So, the games tend to feature less pitching and more hitting. Kind of like Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs.
Wednesday's day game was over three hours as the Rivercats came back late to win.
Oh, and to walk the concorus three times is a mile. I should have gotten off my fat ass and done so both nights. I had a fierce migraine both days, bad but not bad enough to stay home. Only today is it feeling better.

Rivercats Warming Up

Tuesday's game was over 4 hours as the Aces won in extra innings by a bases loaded hit by pitch. It isn't unheard of, but you certainly don't see that every day. And, there was consecutive pitcher to catcher force outs, which is something I don't think I've ever seen. That's one good thing about baseball, you never know what you're going to see.

Posing With Archie The Mascot.

Every other mascot I can think of doesn't talk, but Archie does. I wonder why he's not named "Ace", for the Aces. Reno plays in the PCL as an Arizona farm team.

Aces Park In Downtown Reno

Marie and I snuck off to Reno for a quick overnighter to watch the Rivercats play two at the three year old Aces Park in downtown Reno. Here's the park from a block away. We parked in the Cal Neva parking garage and they charged us $5 to do so. I don't know what you would do if you say you wanted to go in and gamble, should you contest the parking charge? Monday's game was a night game and Tuesday's game was a day game. We were able to watch the game, check out a couple of rv parks and head home in time for Marie to go to work.

This Kills Me

I wonder what the outrage would have been if the Florida shooter was black and the dead man was white/latino? Something tells me the shooter wouldn't have been uncharged for a couple of weeks.

It is a miracle I've been married once, much less three times.

I think my laptop needs a debugging or at least a tune up. I spent the last 25 minutes waiting for the IE and/or Firefox to respond. Much less the boot up time. But, to see beauty like this makes it worth while.

Looks Good To Me

I don't know the logistics behind making something like this, but is sure looks like it would be a hell of an idea to me. Apple pie filling in an apple half with pie crust on top. Hell yes!

Not In Manchester

Marie and I went to the beach more than once when we went camping in Manchester and we didn't see a single sight like this. I know my memory is starting to fail, but I would have remembered this.

You Don't See One Of These Every Day

It is a Chevy II wagon.

I've Seen One In Real Life

Look closely at the front plate. It is shaped like a polar bear. That's what the plates for Canada's Northwest Territories looks like. I've seen one on a truck and camp trailer a long time ago when Kurt and I went to Canada. I've seen the sample plates for sale on ebay as well. I think it is hella cool.

Sounded Good At The Time

Wedding day on the beach. Nice pic of the bride walking in the low surf. Until the big wave knocks her over and she's wet and miserable.
