Ide Memorial

Between Glenn and Hamilton City on SH-45 is the Ide Memorial. There's no sign for it or anything, if you're not paying attention or you don't know its there you'll drive right past it.
William Brown Ide was the only president of the California Republic and part of the Bear Flag Revolt. Here's the wiki. I had this on the old blog a few years ago but I've got new regular readers who may not have seen it before.

I continued north on SH-45 and turned west on SH-32 to Orland. I then took old US-99 north until I got on I-5 in Corning and rode the freeway back to Red Bluff and camp. I rode 179 miles on one tank of gas. I put in 3.07 gallons into a 3.3 (IIRC) tank and got 58.3 mpg.

  1. I often wonder if taking California away from the mexicans was such a good idea after all...
